After the lifts close

Where to go when the lifts stop

Breck does après in two places. There are bars right at the bottom of the slopes on Peaks 7, 8 and 9, where you can sit in your boots with a beer at 3:30. And then there's Main Street, a short walk or a free gondola ride away, with more bars than you'll get through in a week.

Most people start slopeside and drift into town. If you ski down Four O'Clock, you're already there.

Slopeside

At the bottom of the slopes

TBar

The resort’s own bar, at the bottom of the gondola.

TBar sits next to the Rocky Mountain SuperChair and the BreckConnect Gondola, so you can ski to the door and ride the free gondola down to town afterwards. It has the biggest craft beer list on the mountain, plus shareable plates, and OnTheSnow has named it one of the best après bars in North America.

Our tip: Grab a table outside before 3:30 on a sunny day.

Robbie’s Tavern

Slopeside at the Grand Colorado.

A locally owned bistro with a good wine list and Colorado beers. It's a bit more grown-up than TBar next door, and the food is a proper meal rather than bar snacks.

Bar Down Tavern and Sevens

Both in the Grand Lodge, where the gondola stops.

Bar Down does pizza, local beer and cocktails. Sevens next door is the resort's only full-service restaurant on the mountain, with a big deck and a happy hour on weekdays from 3pm to 5pm. Call ahead for a table at Sevens.

The Maggie

Breakfast, lunch and après at the bottom of Quicksilver.

The Maggie is the classic Peak 9 après spot, with live music, hearty food and lots of space for groups. There's a waffle counter inside too.

Coppertop Bar at Beaver Run

Big patio by the Beaver Run SuperChair.

The Coppertop has a large deck, plenty of beers on draft and live music. Handy if you're staying at Beaver Run, and an easy ski-in from the Peak 9 blues.

Quandary Tequila Bistro

Where Main Street meets the slopes.

On the south side of town by the Quicksilver lift, with a sunny deck, 12 taps and a happy hour from 2pm to 5pm. You can ski right to it.

In town

On and around Main Street

Gold Pan Saloon

Breck’s oldest bar.

The Gold Pan started in 1861 as Long's Saloon, a tent for miners. The building went up in 1879 and the town made it a historic landmark. It may hold the longest-running liquor license west of the Mississippi. Come for the history and a cheap beer.

Breckenridge Brewery

The original brewpub, open since 1990.

At the south end of Main Street, with a long beer list that runs from easy lagers to sours and barrel-aged beers, and pub food to go with them.

Breckenridge Distillery tasting room

Local bourbon and vodka.

The distillery is out by the airport, but the tasting room is right on Main Street. A good stop if beer isn't your thing.

Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon

Old West saloon with a historic back bar.

Upscale steakhouse with a saloon in front. Happy hour runs from 4pm to 6pm, with small plates that work as après.

RMU Tavern

Ski shop by day, bar by night.

Rocky Mountain Underground is a ski shop with a tavern attached, a backyard beer garden and a rotating list of craft beers and cocktails. Busy with locals.

Downstairs at Eric’s and Mi Casa

Good with kids.

Eric's has pizza, wings, an arcade and lots of TVs. Mi Casa is a long-running Mexican cantina with an early happy hour from 3pm to 6pm. Both get busy, so go early.
