187 trails, five peaks
Where to ski, by ability
Beginner
Start at the Peak 8 or Peak 9 bases, where the learning areas are. Rip’s Ride at Peak 8 is a slow beginner chair. Once you’re turning confidently, ride the Quicksilver SuperChair on Peak 9: everything off it is green.
Intermediate
Peak 7 off the Independence SuperChair and the Peak 9 blues off Mercury and Beaver Run are the best cruising. On Peak 8, the Colorado SuperChair has plenty of blues too.
Advanced
Peak 10 off the Falcon SuperChair has steep blacks and glades. Peak 8’s upper blacks and Peak 6’s easier bowl terrain are next.
Expert
Imperial Bowl and the Lake Chutes at the top of Peak 8, Horseshoe Bowl and Contest Bowl, the North Chutes on Peak 9 and Peak 6’s Serenity Bowl. High, steep and exposed.
Peak by peak
- Peak 6 · KenshoAbove-treeline bowls. Opens later in the season.
- Peak 7 · IndependenceLong, rolling groomers. Pioneer Crossing at the top.
- Peak 8 · Colorado, ImperialEverything from beginner to the highest bowls. Main base area and terrain parks.
- Peak 9 · Quicksilver, MercuryMellow blues up top, beginner terrain at the base, North Chutes for experts.
- Peak 10 · FalconSteep blacks and glades.
Things to know
- Altitude changes ratings. A blue above treeline in flat light can feel like a black. Start lower and work up.
- The bowls are serious. The high-alpine terrain is ungroomed, steep and often wind-affected. Some of it needs a hike.
- Terrain parks. Breck has three, rated by size on the trail map.
- The run home. Four O’Clock takes you from Peak 8 back into town. Easy, but crowded at the end of the day.

Ski & snowboard rental
Book online before you arrive and pick your gear up in town the evening before. The morning rush at the base shops can eat your first hour, and booking ahead can be cheaper.
Lift tickets & the Epic Pass
Breck is on the Epic Pass. Buying a ticket at the window on the day is the most expensive way up the hill, so buy ahead online or look at an Epic Day Pass if you're here for a few days.
