Breckenridge Ski Resort
Official snow report
The resort's snow report is the official number for Breck: 24-hour, 48-hour and 7-day snowfall, base depth and the season total, measured at the snow stake mid-mountain on Peak 8 (11,237 ft). It's updated through the season on the resort's website and in the My Epic app.

Reading the numbers
Base depth is how deep the settled snowpack is at the stake, not how much fresh snow is on top. 24-hour snowfall is what's landed since the last report. Snow water equivalent (the SNOTEL figure) is how much water the snowpack would make if it melted. It's the best measure of how much is really there, because fresh powder is mostly air.
On a powder day
- Get there early. The lift lines at the main bases fill fast.
- The high-alpine terrain may open late while ski patrol finishes avalanche control. Have a plan for the first hour lower down.
- Check lift & terrain status before you commit to a peak.
- Going beyond the boundary? Read the CAIC avalanche forecast first.
Ski & snowboard rental
Book online before you arrive and pick your gear up in town the evening before. The morning rush at the base shops can eat your first hour, and booking ahead can be cheaper.
Lift tickets & the Epic Pass
Breck is on the Epic Pass. Buying a ticket at the window on the day is the most expensive way up the hill, so buy ahead online or look at an Epic Day Pass if you're here for a few days.
The Friday snow email
One short email a week in season: what fell, what's open, and where to ride this weekend.
