Getting around Breck

How Free Ride works

Free Ride is the Town of Breckenridge's bus service, and it's free for everyone. Color-coded routes run seven days a week between downtown, the base areas, the neighbourhoods and the lodging areas, plus the Main Street Trolley up and down the center of town.

Schedules change between summer and winter. The winter schedule starts with the ski season, so check the official routes & schedules page for current times before you plan around a bus.

For service alerts on your phone, text the town's transit alert line at 970-423-7888.

Using it for skiing

  • Look up which route stops closest to your lodging and check its first and last times.
  • Buses can fill up at peak times, especially 8:30–9:30am and 3:30–4:30pm. Leave a little early.
  • Combine the bus with the free gondola to reach Peaks 7 and 8.
  • Between the Peak 7, 8 and 9 bases, the resort's own free shuttle is often quicker.
  • Carry your skis on board as directed by the driver.

Beyond Breck

The Summit Stage is the county's free bus system, linking Breckenridge with Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon, Keystone and Copper Mountain. It connects with CDOT's Bustang for trips to and from Denver.

Quick tip

Ski & snowboard rental

Book online before you arrive and pick your gear up in town the evening before. The morning rush at the base shops can eat your first hour, and booking ahead can be cheaper.

Quick tip

Lift tickets & the Epic Pass

Breck is on the Epic Pass. Buying a ticket at the window on the day is the most expensive way up the hill, so buy ahead online or look at an Epic Day Pass if you're here for a few days.

The Friday snow email

One short email a week in season: what fell, what's open, and where to ride this weekend.
