Lifts
Independence SuperChair
The only lift from the base.
Independence SuperChair leaves right from the base, and from it you can reach the Freedom SuperChair, the T-Bar and high alpine terrain, Peak 6 via the Zendo Chair and Kensho SuperChair, and Peak 8.
Our tip: There are no green runs on Peak 7. Beginners should start at Peak 8 or Peak 9.
Getting here
The gondola stops here
Halfway between town and Peak 8.
The free BreckConnect Gondola stops at Peak 7 on its way from town to Peak 8. That makes this the easiest base to reach without a car, and it's why Independence gets busy on weekend mornings.
Food and drink
Sevens, The Coop and Bar Down
In the Grand Lodge.
Sevens, in the Grand Lodge, is the resort's only full-service restaurant on the mountain, with a big deck. The Coop window across from Independence does chicken to go, and Bar Down Tavern has pizza, local beer and cocktails for après.
Services
Tickets, rentals and dining
No ski school.
There are lift ticket services, rentals and food here, but no ski school. Lessons meet at Peak 8 and Peak 9.
Lodging
Grand Lodge and Crystal Peak Lodge
Ski-in, ski-out.
Two big slopeside properties sit at the base. The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is right by Independence, with the gondola stop outside. Crystal Peak Lodge has condos at the base of the same lift. See our ski-in, ski-out guide.
