Peak 6

About Peak 6

Peak 6 is the newest part of Breck, opened in 2013, and it skis differently from the rest of the mountain. Most of it sits above treeline. On a clear day that means wide-open bowls and a view north along the Tenmile Range. On a grey, windy day it's the first place you'll want to leave.

The Kensho SuperChair runs from the Horizon Hut at the bottom of the peak almost to the top. The blues come straight down the middle of the bowl, with steeper chutes on either side and a short hike to Beyond Bowl and the highest lines. To get here, take the Zendo Chair from the bottom of the Freedom SuperChair on Peak 7.

Good to know

  • Peak 6 usually opens later in the season than the lower mountain, once there’s enough snow on the bowls.
  • It’s exposed. When the wind picks up, Kensho is one of the lifts most likely to go on hold.
  • Some areas next to the bowl are closed on purpose, for avalanche danger and for wildlife habitat. They’re marked on the trail map.
  • Lost Horizon takes you back down toward the Zendo Chair and Peak 7 at the end of the day.
Quick tip

Ski & snowboard rental

Book online before you arrive and pick your gear up in town the evening before. The morning rush at the base shops can eat your first hour, and booking ahead can be cheaper.

Quick tip

Lift tickets & the Epic Pass

Breck is on the Epic Pass. Buying a ticket at the window on the day is the most expensive way up the hill, so buy ahead online or look at an Epic Day Pass if you're here for a few days.
