April surprises people. Town averages 28 inches of snow in April, as much as any winter month, and a big spring storm can bring some of the best skiing of the year. In between, it's soft snow, sunshine and long lunches on the deck.
The end of the season moves with the snow. In 2026, a thin spring meant Breck closed on April 19. In bigger years it has stayed open into May. The resort hadn't announced a closing date for 2026–27 when we last checked.

In 2026 the Imperial Challenge, a bike, skin and ski race up to the top of Peak 8, was held in early April, and the season ended with Peaks and Beats, a closing party with a pond skim at Peak 8. Check the resort's events page for 2027 dates.

Book online before you arrive and pick your gear up in town the evening before. The morning rush at the base shops can eat your first hour, and booking ahead can be cheaper.
