Silverthorne
Silverthorne sits at the junction of I-70 and Highway 9, just north of Dillon, at about 9,000 feet. Most Breck visitors drive past it on the way in. It's worth stopping on a rest day, mainly for the outlet stores and the river.
It's around 25 minutes from Breck by car, via Frisco, or a free ride on the Summit Stage.

Fishing
Gold Medal trout water.
The Blue River runs through town and is one of Colorado's Gold Medal trout streams, with rainbow and brown trout all year. Local fly shops run guided trips.
Rest day
Pool, slide and climbing wall.
Lap lanes, a kids' pool with a waterslide, a climbing wall and a gym. A good option for a bad-weather day with kids.

Book online before you arrive and pick your gear up in town the evening before. The morning rush at the base shops can eat your first hour, and booking ahead can be cheaper.
Breck is on the Epic Pass. Buying a ticket at the window on the day is the most expensive way up the hill, so buy ahead online or look at an Epic Day Pass if you're here for a few days.
